Using your personality to achieve more fulfilment at work

Individual strengths in harmony with the big picture

Every person is unique, with their own talents, abilities and dreams, but also with needs and frustrations. In organisations, we are often part of a larger whole, but it is precisely your individual strengths that make the difference.

I support you in recognising and using your personal strengths and in articulating and respecting your needs in order to be successful both professionally and personally. Together we will find your place in the organisation where you can develop your passion and contribute to the joint success.

For whom?

I support people in consciously shaping their professional decisions and changes. The focus is always on their individual personality with its unique strengths and needs. Whether it’s a career choice, a decision in favour of a management or expert career, a change of employer, yes or no, various crises in everyday working life and, last but not least, timely planning for (early) retirement: together we develop concrete strategies to make the best use of your talents and achieve your professional goals.

Because only those who know and utilise their strengths can be motivated and successful in the long term.

How?

For the collaboration to be successful, a good personal relationship between us as coach and coachee is crucial. In which cases is coaching useful?

Challenges in professional life Coaching Birkman Michael-J-Frank

What should I study? Which job is right for me?

Should it be the same thing that my father or grandfather did? Or is it better to find your own path? Find out your interests and inner motivators. Discover in which professional fields your personal strengths are in demand and what requirements a job entails, which you should clarify based on your needs during a career counselling session or in a job interview.

I’m supposed to take over as team leader. Manager – is that what I want?

It’s a classic: you’re doing an outstanding job and suddenly you’re offered the position of team leader. A great offer – but is it really the right one for you? Do you want to be a manager, even if it means having less time for the things you enjoy most? Or are you more interested in motivating and guiding people and working strategically? It is not easy to answer this fundamental question honestly – and I am happy to support you in doing so.

Crisis: I don’t feel comfortable with the new situation – how do I deal with it now?

Everything was going well at work until suddenly there was a change: a new colleague, a new boss or an area of responsibility that doesn’t really suit you. Situations like this occur frequently in professional life and require new ways of dealing with them. If you find yourself in such a situation, I will be happy to help you adopt a different perspective and regain a sense of calm and fulfilment in your job.

I fancy something new – but what?

A change of scenery is on the cards or you are considering whether it is really necessary. Perhaps you have been approached by a headhunter? Together we will explore your situation and your motivation for a possible change. Or we can find out how you can implement the necessary changes in your current job. A neutral view can help you make the right decision for you.

Sparring for managers – dialogue at eye level

Have you arrived in your leadership role and realise that you would like to discuss certain topics with a trustworthy partner? How can you bring your personality into your day-to-day work and into your organisation’s system in a more targeted way? Together we will work out possible courses of action that will help you as a manager to fulfil your tasks in the company more effectively.

(Early) retirement – and now?

At some point, the time will come: the structures and habits of working life will suddenly fall away. Do you already have a plan for how you want to organise this new phase of your life? It is important to be clear about your inner motivators – almost as you were at the start of your career. Before “house projects” and “museum visits” become a quick fix of occupational therapy, let’s explore your wishes and prospects for a truly fulfilling life in retirement together.

Change everywhere – how can I best support my team?

Whether it’s the introduction of new digital tools, the improvement of occupational safety culture or the further development of organisational culture – change processes can trigger anxiety and resistance. I support you and your team in tackling these challenges in a cooperative and sustainable manner by taking stock of the situation and defining the next steps together with those responsible.

As a coach, I then support all those involved with individual questions.

More information on the Birkman®-Method

With over 6 million personality profiles already created, Birkman® is one of the world’s leading personality diagnostics. By analysing your individual profile, you gain a comprehensive understanding of yourself and can take targeted steps towards personal and professional development.

Measuring instead of categorising

  • Birkman-Methodik: Messen statt Kategorisieren. Coaching für Menschen in Industrie und WirtschaftThe Birkman®-Method measures and describes the characteristics of a person’s individual behaviour.
  • Unlike many other methods, the results do not lead to a categorisation into predefined categories, but instead provide an individual picture of the personality.
  • The Birkman® profile invites self-reflection in order to deal more consciously with the characteristics of one’s own personality.
  • The Birkman®-Method is integrated into the systemic approach at Michael Frank Coaching & Consulting. It places the personality of the individual in the context of the whole.

Looking at the facets of your own personality

  • What motivates us and energises us? In which areas do our interests lie?
  • How do we behave when we feel good? What strengths do we show in this “normal behaviour”?
  • What needs should be satisfied so that we can display our strong normal behaviour? How should others treat us?
  • How do we react when we are frustrated because these needs are not met?
  • And how do these behaviours interact with each other, do they reinforce or moderate each other?

Our interaction with others

  • Our normal behaviour always encounters the needs of others. And vice versa.
  • The normal behaviour of the other person always encounters my needs. And vice versa..
  • How am I perceived by others and how well can they “read” me? Do I actually make my needs clear?
  • The more conscious handling of the characteristics of one’s own personality in the team enables a better common understanding and more effective co-operation.
  • The Birkman®-Method provides the common vocabulary for the necessary exchange within the team.

Michael Frank – The systemic coach

This is what you can expect from my coaching:

I look forward to meet you

First of all: I am not a psychologist and have no classical academic training in a related discipline. Instead, I have over 30 years of experience in the business and management context in corporate groups and SMEs. During this time, I have accompanied people through almost all phases of their corporate and professional lives and, of course, lived through them myself.

I have always seen myself as a “coaching” executive and have supplemented my life and professional experience with effective, scientifically sound and proven diagnostic and coaching tools. I have been a licensed Birkman® consultant since May 2023 and regularly attend further training courses to keep my knowledge up to date. I also successfully completed my training in systemic coaching and change management at the INeKO Institute at the University of Cologne in 2024.

In my coaching sessions, we look ahead together, develop solutions and ways in which you can best deal with what you bring to the table and develop further.

Important: We do not work backwards to analyse causes in your past – that is the job of a therapist. If you are currently undergoing therapy, your therapist should be informed and agree that you should consider coaching with me. I should also know whether you are in therapy.

Costs: We agree the costs for my coaching services on an individual basis. They depend on the type and scope of the Birkman® analyses used and the duration of our collaboration. Let’s talk about your requirements!
